30 may 2006: Neighbours' Day was celebrated for the first time in Azerbaidjan with the support of the House of Azerbaidjan in Belgium and the newspaper ‘Eu Xeber’ (Euro News). The objective was to reinforce relationships between Azerbaidjan and Europe and introduce a european event to local residents. Celebrations took place for the 1st time in the street Talibli, 34. The General of ‘Excelsior’ hotel and the representant of the Council of Europe in Azerbaïdjan joined in the party. Neighbours' Day offered a great opportunity for local residents to find out more about Europe institutions and values. The House of Azerbaïdjan in Belgium and the newspaper 'Eu Xeber’ (Euro News) were really happy with the success of this day.

Neighbours' Day is being launched for the 1st time in Japan, in downtown Tokyo, in the well-known park of SHINJYUKU, for the "LOHAS Design Award 2008", an event that is being organised to improve residents' quality of life and promote sustainable development.
This event, hosted by the publishing company SOTOKOTO, will give its 50,000 visitors an opportunity to get to know each other better in a warm and friendly environment, with a giant picnic , buffets...

Tthe first Neighbours' day celebrations were initiated by the Green Consumer Foundation in the Tianmu district back in 2006 (Tianmu is the most important district in Taipei located in the north of Taipei and gathers a high number of foreigners . The first celebrations took place in November due to bad weather conditions in May. A few Taipei based french organizations were involved in the event to remind all participants the french origin of the project.
In 2007 more than 1 000 neighbours celebrated together this day in June.
